Redeemer Senior Living is part of the Redeemer Health system that’s been providing quality, compassionate care in our region since 1924. With an emphasis on providing a continuum of care, we remain true to our mission to care, comfort and heal.
The first Sisters of the Holy Redeemer left their home in Germany and came to America in 1924. Invited by the Xaverian Brothers in Baltimore, they were given charge of sick brothers as well as students at St. Joseph High School. Word spread and more sisters arrived in the following years to serve in ministries throughout the country.
With a long-held commitment to older adults, the Sisters purchased a 45-acre farm in Meadowbrook in 1934 which became St. Joseph Manor. Two years later, the Sisters purchased the adjacent 115-acre farmland to feed the residents of St. Joseph Manor. In 1992, the Sisters acquired Holy Redeemer Lafayette. Today, Redeemer Senior Living provides a full continuum of care — including active adult, independent living, personal care, memory support, skilled nursing and rehabilitation — at four communities in the Philadelphia area.
As a Catholic Health System, rooted in the tradition of the Sisters of the Redeemer, we Care, Comfort and Heal following the example of Jesus, proclaiming the hope God offers in the midst of human struggle.
We revere all life as sacred and value each person as one created by God.
We practice empathy towards each other, creating a healing presence in times of pain and struggle.
We welcome the stranger, guests and each other in a friendly and generous manner.
We are attentive and responsive to the needs of the whole person: physical, spiritual, emotional and social.
We work jointly and cooperatively, networking within Holy Redeemer and with other systems and persons.
We care for all of creation, human and material, that has been entrusted to us by God.
We treat others at all times with fairness and honesty.
For nearly a century, generous giving has allowed us to chart a vision for the future while upholding the mission and values of the Sisters of the Redeemer: to Care, Comfort and Heal.
